Seb Wildblood invites SOS Music co-founder Maddy Maia to mark her debut solo EP on All My Thoughts. An introspective record for the dance floor, fuelled by her journey through a challenging music industry.

The London born / LA based DJ/producer, radio host, label owner, event curator and A&R has dedicated a decade to nourishing artists with a focus on female and gender minorities, elevating new talent through her mostly female DJ sets and radio shows on Worldwide FM & DUBLAB, and most notably of late via the SOS Music (Sisters Of Sound) imprint and curated events series of which she co-founded with DJ Tottie in 2019. ‘With U’ is a full circle story of a dedicated tastemaker reflecting on her contribution to the community.

Sonically, title track ‘With U’ is a nod to seminal oldskool genres that Maddy grew up on, breaks, drum n bass and rave. “I love that this element is back in dance music again!”she explains. ‘Fembot Fashion’ represents the music you’d expect to hear throughout a Maddy Maia DJ set; it's seductive and fresh. The EP doesn’t just represent Maddy’s sonic palette though, it’s a breakthrough in confidence and culmination of charged emotions.

Maddy Maia - “This release marks me feeling confident enough to practice self-love through my own expression after being behind the scenes for so long working in A&R - which has been a difficult journey at times. It was a very different landscape when I started my career in music, I was so scared of producing, thinking I needed loads of gear I couldn’t afford and spent a long time with imposter syndrome intimidated by the scene. All reinforced by the environment around me being fairly toxic in my early days working in music, a reason clearly driving my work with SOS Music. A lot of emotion has come out in these tracks. They’re my love letters to the dancefloor (dancing has always been intense therapy and probably one of the reasons I was drawn to club culture in the first place) but also the soundtrack to a charged snapshot in history. I made Fembot Fashion when we got the Roe vs. Wade news in the USA and at that moment all our work on championing diversity with SOS Music and throughout my time in the industry just suddenly felt pointless. I was so angry, and happened to have a weekend to myself so I sat in my little studio in East LA and channeled some of that fierce energy I was feeling into this track”
